Message From Scott
March 31st, 2009Greetings,
I wanted to thank your for all the kind comments about my sermon yesterday. It was one of those going in where I did not know how it would turn out. The very idea that for the church to live some things must die is a difficult concept and even more difficult to determine what to let go of.
For those of you who were unable to be with us we spent our time looking at the “Triumphal Entry.” When you consider that Jesus entered Jerusalem from the East and Pilot would have entered Jerusalem from the West with all of his military and political might we are able to see the subversive parody in Jesus’ actions.
This is more than just a humble figure entering into the city. It is a King ushering in a Kingdom! A kingdom not built on power and might but on the spirit of God. Of love, compassion and justice.
That explains why people were flocking to Jesus. His message was counter-cultural.
So must ours be.
