I think of Agape every time I listen to Barry Manilow

On Sunday I confessed my love of love songs. There is no greater love song than that of 1 John. It was a novel and controversial concept to claim that God is love but that is what the author of the book did.

We discussed the context of 1 John. There were people who denied that Jesus had a physical body and that he died on the cross. To them, Jesus in the physical body was just an illusion. John encourages love and fellowship which is a strong call for us in a world so marked by division.
